BMW 116D Timing Chain Replacement (B37)

Newer generations of BMW engines share the same issues as the previous timing chain systems. B37 and B47 engines are very similar to the N47 platform in terms of design so it is very important to replace the timing system as a preventative measure.

Timing chains on these platforms can last a varying amount of time but can fail at around 60,000 – 100,000 miles. How the vehicle is driven and how often the oil is changed play a large role in how long the system lasts. We replace the full kit which includes all 3 chains, all guides, oil jet, camshaft sprocket, fuel pump sprocket, both tensioners. rear seal, rocker cover gasket, resealed sump and timing cover, coolant oil and oil filter.

Our timing kits use the latest technology as from BMW i.e. a longer upper tensioner and a rubberised coating on the chain guides for better vibration dampening. We can turn around timing chain replacements quickly and the job itself only takes around 2 days to complete.
